An essential companion to any collection of recordings of this best of all radio classics. I don't know how I did without it all these years.
I love OTR and Fibber is one of my favorites. What I was looking for was a narrative about the show and the Jordans (similar to Raised on Radio). This book is not that. It is a listing that summarizes each of the shows (airdate, cast, writers, plot, music, etc.). Invaluable to serious fans, I suppose, but not what I was looking for.
It would be an understatement to say that Mr. Schulz has done his homework with this incredible wealth of information on every single broadcast of this beloved comedy series. What a labor of love it must have been to listen to all of these timeless shows. Schulz's writing is sharp and truly engaging, which makes this much more than a mere reference publication. After reading the introduction, I wanted to read more from this talented writer (who could easily have been working right alongside Don Quinn supplying gags for the McGees). I look forward to more from Schulz and hope his next project is a biography. This is a must-have for all enthusiasts of old-time radio.
